Security restrictions in Internet Explorer can sometimes prevent files from downloading, even if the files are not malicious such as a document from other sites on the web and our's. If Internet Explorer is blocking downloads, you may see a Security Alert [fig 01]. This document will show how to enable file downloads in Internet Explorer.

1. Open the Tools menu by clicking the gear in the top left corner of Internet Explorer, then click Internet Options [fig 02].
2. On the Security tab, click Custom Level... [fig. 03].
3. You will now be presented with the Security Settings window. Scroll down to the Downloads section. Under the File Download subheading, select Enable. Click OK [fig. 04].
4. Restart Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect. After reopening the browser, you should be able to download files. [fig. 05].
